Lisa Gascoine Art

Lisa lives in Downham Market in Norfolk. Her love of art began at school, where she showed a natural flair. Her progression into an art career however wasn't straightforward when she failed art college and was told she would never be an artist by her college tutors. Her career initially took her in a different direction, as she worked in admin, sales and even worked for the same print company she now uses for her art prints. Over the years, Lisa continued to create art in her spare time, producing commissioned work and this is where she began to really develop her techniques.  In 2021 she made the first steps towards working as a full-time artist, which is her true calling.

Lisa is an animal lover who is passionate about drawing animals of all kinds. She especially enjoys showcasing animals from different perspectives and shining a light on the less-celebrated animals, revealing their often-overlooked beauty. Lisa's animal portraits capture the essence and spirit of her subjects, often resulting in powerful pieces that aim to forge an emotional connection with the viewer.

She is a self-taught artist and works predominantly with charcoal to create her striking portraits. Lisa also uses chalk and fine pens to add highlights and capture the finest details of her subjects. More recently, Lisa has started using colour pastel pencils, which brings an exciting new dynamic. Whilst she continues to explore new techniques, she remains true to her passion for creating emotive animal portraiture always capturing the beauty, strength and vulnerability of animals.

Lisa takes great pride in offering high quality prints that perfectly replicate her originals at affordable prices. Her limited-edition giclee prints are a run of 75 and on certain newer pieces, she has also started offering A3-sized prints of every tenth print within the series, so that everyone can enjoy a statement piece.

Lisa's work is steadily building a following and can be seen at a selection of galleries across Norfolk and even as far as Lanzarote, where a gallery owner fell in love with her work. Her first venture in Suffolk can be seen here at Brett Gallery.
